Product Description

Barack Obama and his radical team of self-professed socialists, fringe activists, and others are trying to remake the American way of life. They have used their new Democratic majority to launch an alarming assault on our capitalist system—while abandoning the war on terror, undermining our national security, and weakening our position in the eyes of our enemies. The "candidate of change" is threatening to change our country irreparably, and for the worse—if we don't act to stop him now.

Sean Hannity has been sounding the alarms about Obama and his agenda from the start. Now—in his first new book in six years—he issues a stirring call to action. Hannity surveys all the major Obama players—from the president's affiliation with radical theology to his advisers' history of Marxist activism, repression of the media, support for leftist dictators, and worse. He exposes their resulting campaign to dismantle the American free-market system and forfeit our national sovereignty. But he draws on the examples of Ronald Reagan and the GOP's Contract with America to show how conservatives can unite behind this country's most cherished principles and act now to get America back on the right track—while we still can.

4 out of 5 stars Definitely worth your time   July 28, 2010

Hannity's latest publication is a quick and easy read. I found it to be well-researched and pretty well-edited; however, if you're a regular Hannity listener, this book does not provide you with anything different from what you'd see or hear on the show. He is very upbeat throughout the book and he presents all of his arguments in a very matter-of-fact and reasoned manner. Unlike Ann Coulter, whose every word is seemingly laced with venom, Sean Hannity proves to be articulate and level-headed in this work.

What was most pleasing about he book was the descriptive "Items for Victory" chapter he uses to conclude the book. While I don't necessarily subscribe to all of them as absolutely vital for a conservative resurgence, this chapter is key in putting the finishing touches on Mr. Hannity's argument. He makes a good parallel with, but a clear distinction from 1994's Contract with America and how the "Contract" could be used as a model on which conservatives could campaign in preparation for the 2010 midterm elections.

While it was an easy read, the book does contain a great deal of jargon that really doesn't sound like Hannity - leading me to believe that he did not author this book in its entirety..... probably not a surprise to many of you. Nevertheless, it is worth reading.

4 out of 5 stars Great Book   April 22, 2010

Conservative Victory is an excellent book that presents factual information that the media fails to address regarding Obama's leftist agenda and radical ideology. It also lays out a road map for ways Republicans can be successful in the 2010 and 2012 elections by going back to their coservative values.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Book   July 10, 2010

Although the truth hurts sometimes (and can be depressing), this book tells it like it is. As an independent, I thought I might find this a little to far to the right for my tastes, but it's hard to argue with Hannity's points, based on the numerous examples he puts forth. That being said, it does make your blood boil at times.

Overall, an enjoyable read....not overly complex....incorporates a little humor....I would recommend.

5 out of 5 stars Freedom, Hannity-style!   April 7, 2010

My problem: I was starting to develop headaches from the overload of fairness and balance that Fox News implants within my brain. I watch far less than the average Fox News viewer, but 8 hours of televised truth a day was becoming painful. When blurry little Glen Becks and Megyn Kellys began appearing when I wasn't watching the tube, and my pastor concluded that they weren't signs from God but television-induced hallucinations, I felt scared and alone. Idle minds are the devil's playthings. How was I to defend myself against the invisible liberal behemoth that is destroying our Christian nation without my band of network prophets? After a few days without Fox News, I even started to doubt if the liberal devil was really out there at all, waiting to pounce upon my being and devour my delicious eternal spirit. I shudder to think how near Lucifer came to capturing my soul, tempting me with his calming illusions as I carelessly whistled along with the Barbara Streisand music creeping from the speakers at Starbucks, hypnotized in some carefree beatnik fantasy land.

My solution: Conservative Victory. Although reading books also causes discomfort and pain, my doctor has assured me that the symptoms are not damaging to my health - an expensive lesson since his prognosis was not covered by my healthcare insurer. Nevertheless, Mr. Hannity, your written crusade has saved and inspired me. Your mission from God against the radical agendas of the evildoers that you teach us to identify, distrust, and fear has reached me on an even deeper than before and I'm now taking action. And by taking action, true patriots know what I'm talking about. Poster of Obama with a Hitler mustache penciled in + Tea Party convention. Need I say more? Didn't think so. Communists, socialists, fascists, czars, African-American presidents, and all other non-Christian freedom-bashers beware. Conservative Victory is the manifesto needed to fight your sinful schemes. And although I find reading to be sorta boring and stupid, just purchasing a book made me feel smarter. Now I kinda understand why those smug, know-it-all liberals are always carrying books around with them. Plus there is an American flag on the cover of THIS book. Patriotism is proudly radiating from my coffee-table for all to behold. Conservative Victory, indeed!

4 out of 5 stars Not a lot of new ground - but an important compendium of Conservative thought   April 4, 2010

"Conservative Victory" does not break a lot of new ground. In fact, it is much more a compendium of current conservative thought than it is a book of new perspectives. At first I though that was a negative. Upon careful consideration, however, I find that this book accomplishes exactly what it needs to. It's a reference, a guidebook, a discussion of where we are today - and a reflection on what successful, governing conservatism looks like.

This is not as substantial an exposition on the peril we are currently in as is "Liberty and Tyranny" by Mark Levin. Part of me wishes that it were. But, I had to remind myself - that is not what this book set out to be, nor what it is. Long time listeners of Hannity will not find much new ground here. That's okay. The book, instead, gives you a concise and ordered progression of the arguments that Sean brings to the airwaves each and every day. Mainstream conservatism has lost its way a bit in the last few years. This book is a beacon for both wonderers and wanderers. Sean has a great quote from Dick Armey in the book that crystallized this for me:

"I've always wondered why Republicans insist on acting like Democrats in hopes of retaining political power, while Democrats act like us in order to win."

The book is broken down in to three parts. The first is a succinct, yet thorough exploration of Obama's past associations and current appointees, and what those portend for his administration. Again, for longtime listeners, this won't be new ground. What you do get is the benefit (or misfortune) of over a year's worth of decisions, appointments, and actions by Obama, to use a lens with which to view Sean's predictions. He could have very easily stolen the title of another conservative icon's books and called this missive - "See, I Told You So".

In the second part of the book, Sean discusses the great successes of conservatism over the last 30+ years, as well as his own political foundation. He is a Reagan conservative, and laces this books with quote and insights from Reagan that are as relevant to today's political discourse as they were when he said them 30 or more years ago. He details the impact that the Contract on America has had on the discourse in Washington, and how the Republicans ultimately lost their way - leading to Democratic majorities we have today.

The last section of the book deals with Sean's roadmap to victory. For me, it was a little light as far as being a roadmap. Instead, what it offered was great insight into the core values that conservatives share, and should unabashedly proclaim in the public square. Using those core values as a starting point, it will be up to our candidates to develop an actual game plan. Perhaps the most important thing Sean does in this book is to present a forceful argument against starting a third party. He deftly lays to rest the allure of that road by revisiting the one major accomplishment of the last serious push to create a third party in America - Ross Perot. That accomplishment? Electing Bill Clinton with 43% of the vote.

"Conservative Victory" was a good read. It was quick, well researched, well edited, and well thought out. As I said earlier, it serves a need we have right now in the conservative movement. It's a study guide and reference to be used in keeping ourselves honest and on the right path. A gut check about what it means to be a conservative. As Sean says in the book:

"The true key to conservative victory is to stay true to conservative principles; to convey the message clearly and powerfully; and to refuse to let liberals distort what we stand for and what is in our hearts."

The real test will be - will those that run for, and hopefully attain high office in November, adhere to these principles and give the people the voice in Washington that they so desperately need? Only time will tell.
